With 41 founding members/cooperators, the cooperative started in 1991 as PICDEC , whose primary nature are livestock, savings, and loans. We rebranded on the succeeding year after registering to the Cooperative Development Authority with our current business name, Pinagdanlayan Multi-purpose Cooperative (PMPC).
However, things did not go well during the early years for the cooperative. Various problems in regards to securing certificates and accreditation halted our operations in 2006 up until 2009. Surviving by selling parcels of land as payment for loans, we managed to resolve multiple issues and stabilized our finances by 2012.
As the cooperative continues our service, we managed to diversify our operations by venturing into multiple services and products such as garments and coffee selling. The coffee produce comes from Barangay Pinagdanlayan in Dolores and processed in Batangas, where we sell them as the brand, Sanico.
Upon these ventures, the cooperative sought and acquired grants since 2015 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)'s Shared Service Facility program. 2019 saw the DA’s granted coffee processing facility turned over to us, which also saw the coffee beans bought in Dolores to be processed mainly by the cooperative and sold as the current Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Kape Danlayan.
The cooperative secured its Certificate of Product Registration for Kape Danlayan from the FDA in 2020 with the DTI helping to produce a package for the product. We secured our Certificate of Coffee Exporter from DTI Export Marketing Bureau and registered with the Bureau of Customs. Our members then started to undergo multiple trainings on coffee to help maintain and improve the quality of our product.
In 2022, we were awarded with INSPIRE project from the DA for our hog operations which helped us acquire 2.6 hectares of land as equity.
Driven by our goals, we participate in multiple trade fairs, product exhibits, and other promotional engagements to continue our service to our community.
